Sustainability isn’t an afterthought — it’s engineered into every Heritage Living project.
Each Heritage Living structure begins with a SIP shell — two engineered OSB layers bonded to a high-performance insulated core. This “fabric-first” approach integrates structure and insulation from the start, reducing thermal bridging and achieving U-values as low as 0.12 W/m²K. Buildings stay warmer in winter and cooler in summer, lowering operational energy demand and providing lasting comfort. SIPs also deliver exceptional airtightness and structural integrity, maintaining performance far beyond traditional timber or masonry builds.
Not all buildings are required to meet the same standards — and sustainability means designing appropriately, not over-engineering unnecessarily.
At Heritage Living Group, each building is designed to suit its intended use, location and regulatory requirements.
Garden rooms, studios and ancillary buildings are designed to deliver excellent thermal performance and comfort but are not required to comply with BS 3632, which applies to residential park homes.
Lodges, annexes and residential buildings are designed to meet the relevant Building Regulations and, where specified, BS 3632:2023 Residential Standard for year-round living.
Commercial and leisure buildings (including glamping accommodation and sports buildings) are designed to balance energy efficiency, durability and operational use in line with planning and building control requirements.
Where site conditions allow, we use ground screw foundations to minimise excavation, concrete use and long-term impact on the land.
Benefits include:
Minimal ground disturbance
Reduced embodied carbon compared to concrete bases
Faster installation
Reversible foundations where required
This approach is particularly well suited to rural, agricultural and environmentally sensitive sites.
True sustainability isn’t about applying the same specification to every building — it’s about designing the right solution for the right use.
By tailoring insulation levels, structure, glazing and heating systems to each project, we:
Reduce unnecessary material use
Improve long-term performance
Lower operational energy demand
Avoid over-engineering where it isn’t required
This approach supports sustainability across:
Garden studios and workspaces
Holiday lodges and glamping units
Sports and fitness buildings
Residential annexes and homes
Lowering energy and resource usage can significantly cut costs. By implementing sustainable practices, you not only save money but also create a more efficient operation.
Sustainable choices help protect natural resources and reduce pollution. By going green, your business contributes to a healthier planet and a better future.
As awareness of environmental issues rises, more customers are seeking eco-friendly options. Sustainability can set you apart and attract a growing market.
Being eco-conscious elevates your brand image. Customers appreciate businesses that show commitment to sustainability and community care.
Adopting sustainable practices positions your business to thrive in the future. It prepares you for shifts in market demand and regulatory changes.
Participating in sustainable initiatives fosters goodwill and builds stronger relationships within your community. It shows you care about the shared environment.
SIPs aren’t just sustainable at the point of build — they deliver measurable efficiency throughout their life. Their high thermal retention, structural stability and low maintenance needs reduce operational carbon year after year. Combined with durable finishes and recyclable materials, every Heritage Living project supports a genuinely low-carbon building lifecycle, improving ESG credentials for owners and investors alike.
