Materials & Specifications

High-Performance Materials for SIPs Buildings

At Heritage Living Group, materials are chosen for performance, durability and long-term value — not short-term trends.

Across all our buildings, from garden studios and lodges to sports buildings and residential annexes, we use a carefully considered specification designed to deliver comfort, efficiency and longevity.

Rather than offering endless combinations, we focus on materials that work together as a complete system.

Structural System – SIPs Construction

All Heritage Living Group buildings are designed and built using Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) as the core structural system.

SIPs form the walls, floors and roofs of the building, combining structure and insulation in one integrated panel.

Key benefits include:

  • Excellent thermal performance

  • High levels of airtightness

  • Strong structural integrity

  • Reduced thermal bridging

  • Consistent build quality

Panel thicknesses and build-ups are tailored to the intended use of the building — from ancillary garden rooms to habitable residential structures.

Exterior Cladding

Cladding plays a vital role in protecting your building while defining its overall character. As an exterior finish, it forms a robust protective barrier against the elements, enhances thermal and acoustic performance, and significantly improves the visual appeal of SIP-built garden buildings, lodges and annexes.

We offer one of the most comprehensive ranges of external cladding options available, with Natural Larch cladding included as standard. Valued for its warmth and character, larch timber weathers naturally over time and complements both rural landscapes and contemporary architectural designs.

For a richer or more refined finish, we offer premium timber upgrades including Thermowood cladding, Western Red Cedar and Accoya. Each option is carefully selected for its durability, dimensional stability and long-term performance, making them ideal for high-quality residential and commercial garden buildings.

Where low maintenance is a priority, our composite cladding solutions provide an excellent alternative to natural timber. Contemporary slatted profiles and luxury Millboard composite cladding deliver a high-end aesthetic with outstanding resistance to moisture, fading and wear — all with minimal ongoing upkeep.

From rustic natural textures to clean, modern lines, we’ll help you select the ideal cladding material to suit your building, its setting and how the space will be used.

We specify high-performance glazing systems chosen for durability, thermal efficiency and clean architectural lines.

Customise the Doors

It is very important to select the right doors for your building and we have a number to choose from, patio doors, Bi-Folds, Sliding doors, New wave Doors, and the new Crittall style heritage doors are all available, plus loads of colour options.

Customise the Windows

Bathroom & Shower Rooms

Your building can also include a dedicated shower room or full bathroom, designed to be both practical and beautifully finished.

Layouts may include walk-in showers, WC and basin combinations, or a full-size bath, depending on available space and specification.

We offer a wide choice of finishes — from contemporary and minimalist to rustic or spa-inspired — helping you create a high-quality, memorable experience for guests or occupants.

Kitchen Options

The interior of your building can be fully tailored to your intended use, including the option to incorporate a stylish and functional kitchen area.

From compact kitchenettes to fully fitted kitchens with integrated appliances, worktops and storage, we design layouts to suit everything from short-stay retreats to fully self-catered accommodation.

Whether you’re creating a romantic hideaway or a family-friendly lodge, every kitchen is carefully planned to balance practicality, comfort and visual appeal.

Heating Options

We offer a range of flexible heating solutions to suit your building type, internal layout and energy requirements, ensuring comfort throughout the year.

Underfloor heating provides consistent, even warmth across the entire space and is ideal for year-round use in insulated SIP-built buildings.

For a simple and efficient solution, electric panel heaters deliver fast, controllable heat in a sleek, space-saving design.

Where a more traditional or off-grid feel is desired, EcoDesign-approved wood-burning stoves offer warmth and character. These are particularly popular for lodges and glamping buildings, creating a cosy atmosphere while meeting the latest clean air standards.

Hot Tubs & Outdoor Baths

For those seeking an added sense of luxury, we can incorporate private hot tubs or outdoor baths into your project.

Options range from traditional wood-fired hot tubs to contemporary electric spa systems and freestanding outdoor baths. Working with trusted UK suppliers, we help you select features that enhance the overall experience, increase booking appeal and add long-term value.

Interior Customisation

Every Heritage Living building is designed from the inside out, allowing you to fully customise the interior around how the space will be used — now and in the future.

Whether you’re creating a home office, guest accommodation, leisure space, wellness studio or hospitality environment, we take a design-led approach to ensure the interior is as considered and functional as the structure itself.

To support this process, we work in collaboration with interior designer Sally Watson, bringing professional insight into layout planning, finishes, lighting and overall flow. This ensures each interior not only looks exceptional, but works effortlessly for everyday use or guest stays.

You may choose from a range of carefully curated interior specification packs, developed to suit common building uses and budgets, or opt for a fully bespoke interior, incorporating your own layouts, materials and design ideas. From wall finishes and flooring to lighting schemes, storage and built-in furniture, every detail can be tailored to your vision.

The result is an interior that feels cohesive, comfortable and purposeful — expertly designed to enhance the experience of the space and stand the test of time.
